Cave Run Symphony spinning Fairy Tales, honoring Northcutts
By KEITH KAPPES
Another performance of live symphonic music is coming to Morehead on Sunday, March 27, when the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra presents “Fairy Tales” at 3 p.m. in the Morehead Conference Center.

It will be the CRSO’s third concert of its 2021-22 season since resuming activity following interruption of the 2019-20 season after only two concerts because of the coronavirus pandemic. The entire 2020-21 season was canceled for the same reason.

“We will be pleased to recognize the wonderful support of the Northcutt family as a founding donor and sponsor of the orchestra since it started in 2013,” said Dr. Craig Burrows, CRSO’s acting president. “Denny, Helen, and John Northcutt are pillars of this community and share a deep appreciation of this music as a cultural resource.”

The concert will include works by composers Gioacchino Rossini, Camille Saint-Saens, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and John Williams.

Dr. DuWayne C. Dale, director of bands at MSU, is serving as guest conductor for the second time this season.

Dr. Burrows also announced that the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra is among the sponsors of the April 1 recital of John Romero, principal trombonist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. His performance will be at 7:30 p.m. in MSU’s Duncan Recital Hall and is free and open to the public.

Other sponsors include MSU’s Department of Music, Theatre and Dance, Morehead State Public Radio, and the MSU Student Government Association.

The final CRSO concert of the season will be Sunday, April 24, at 3 p.m. at the Conference Center with the theme of “High Five”.

Tickets will be available at the door. All students receive free admission to CRSO concerts. Tickets also can be purchased at CoffeeTree Books and Morehead Visitor Center where cash or checks are accepted for payment.

The orchestra is supported by gifts, sponsorships, program book advertising, and ticket sales. Information about program advertising rates and sponsorships also is available online at TheCRSO.com.
