Cave Run Symphony Orchestra Society annual meeting reset April 28
By Keith Kappes

For the first time in more than two years, the governing body of the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra will hold an annual membership meeting, continuing the ensemble’s resurgence in its 2021-22 concert season.

Dr. Craig Burrows, acting president of the CRSO, said the session will be held Thursday, April 28, at 6 p.m. at the Rowan County Courthouse in the Fiscal Court Meeting Room near the building’s main entrance.

The meeting originally was scheduled in January but was canceled because of weather issues.

“Anyone who financially supports the orchestra automatically becomes a member of the CRSO Society and is eligible to attend and participate in the annual membership meeting each year,” Burrows said. “Those members attending will be discussing business matters and planning for the 2022-23 season.”

He noted that specific agenda items include consideration of proposed bylaws amendments now posted on the orchestra’s website at TheCRSO.com. The proposed bylaws changes can be found here.

The meeting also will include election of board officers, appointment and reappointment of board members and review of financial and other reports.

Those eligible to attend and vote at the annual meeting will represent more than 200 individuals, organizations and businesses providing direct financial support to the CRSO since the 2019-20 season was halted in midstream because of the pandemic.

That support includes individual and corporate gifts, sponsorships, program advertising, season tickets, and grants.

The final concert of the 2021-22 season will be Sunday, April 24, at 3 p.m. at the Morehead Conference Center. The theme will be “High Five” and will include the return of conductor Terry Durbin.

Tickets will be available at the door. College and high school students with ID cards and children aged 17 and under are admitted free of charge.
